ADDRESS BY NEW CHAIRPERSON, NIPR OYO STATE CHAPTER
ADDRESS BY CHAIRPERSON - MRS. TOLA AJAYI NIPR OYO STATE CHAPTER 3/11/2016

It is my pleasure meeting all of you today and thank you all for coming.
I know am not known to many of you but some of you knew me and have worked with me at some point or the other. Thank you for voting for me and the confidence you placed on me. I want to assure you that now the ship is sailing there are no turning back. This is a task that must be done!!!
I joined the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in 1988 with over 28 years experience in Public Relations at various capacities, I remember with fund memories what NIPR was and how we are struggling to maintain our name and relevance over the years.
I would like to assure you that this exco is ready to serve and uplift our chapter to a greater height. To achieve this, the following agenda will be our main focus.
 UNITING ALL NIPR FAMILY
Irrespective of what had happened before in our chapter, we must live the past in the past and look to the bright future. We have the potentials to do this, and we will do it with all your help and team spirit - GOD'S WILLING.
 NETWORKING
In view of the prevailing economic situation in the country, the Oyo State Chapter must network. This will create positive association and better result for advancement both as individual and collectively. We must come together for positive benefit, be is it social, economic and intellectual.
 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Public Relations in any organization seek to establish and maintain mutual understanding, acceptance between organization and its various public. If that is the case, NIPR Oyo State chapter would seek to look for members in major organizations, encourage all Corporate Affair Officers and Managers, Public Relations Manager, Public Relations Practitioners as well as Top Management in Public Relations to be members of NIPR.
We want quality members, not quantity members. We want members that portraits our profession, members that will project corporate image both in words and deeds, members that are committed. Members we can be proud of as ambassadors, members that will uphold professional ethics of the institute.
 BUILDING NIPR WITH OTHER PROFESSIONAL BODIES
We will work with other professional bodies such as NIM, NUJ, NIMN and with our members belonging to this bodies in order as to achieve our set objectives and result.
 EDUCATION AND TRAINING
We will bring back education and training aspect of NIPR. We will organize seminars and training for ourselves. We will work with our tertiary institutions in the state both at the Polytechnic and at the University level. Some of us will be invited to do these training we are soliciting everyone's cooperation when called upon to serve for the Educational Advancement and continuous PR programs. The Lumina Lecture is very much in focus, this is planned for 2017.
 IMPROVING NIPR AND GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
It is our hope to improve and work with Oyo State government. We will do all we can to foster cordial relationship with the Commissioner for Information and His Excellency the Governor. It is our duty to be seen and active - this is good for our social calling, it will create opportunity for our members to be recognized. Our members should be able to serve everywhere and anywhere the opportunity arises in government.
Our Relationship with BCOS, NTA, Radio and other television stations will be strengthened.
 REVIVING AND BETTER RELATIONS WITH OLDER PRACTITIONERS
We will work with all our older practitioners, our veterans, tap into their wealth of experience as well as appreciating them.
We will introduce Award Nights for this and other ceremonies.
For the Exco to achieve this, the following committees have been formed. These includes:-
 Building and Secretariat
 Networking, Publicity and Social Media.
 Sponsorship and Welfare
 Finance, Revenue Generation and Membership Drive
 Education and Training
We will continue to set agenda toward enhancing the growth and development of our chapter. We will continue to exchange ideas, and reinforce good practices in Public Relations and this in-term would foster better understanding of our cultural diversity as a people thereby showing our appreciation for the profession we cherished.
In conclusion, we will be disciplined, uphold professional ethics both in dressing, in writing, in speech thought and in action. I therefore implore all of us to work together as a team with same goal, same purpose, same vision, and mission to reach our expected result.
